It’s a rather dubious honor, but Real Salt Lake and the Colorado Rapids make MLS history last night.
After about 15 minutes of the match had been played, the score was 1-1 and both scores were own goals.
The rest of the match was pretty soft and the match ended in a 1-1 tie.
This was the first time in MLS history that a match ended in a tie with all own goals.
Perhaps the bigger crime had to do with the Rapids’ Herculez Gomez. He had two goals disallowed, because of being offside. However, the first goal was onsides.
It was Gomez who struck the ball into Real defender Jack Stewart, which led to Real’s own goal.
Freddy Adu, Real Salt Lake, sent a shot in that went off of Pablo Mastroeni for a Rapids own goal.
Real Salt Lake is still looking for their first victory. They are now 0-2-4. Colorado Rapids are now 2-2-2.
